Aneeta Seshan

Aneeta Seshan is a textile artist who lives and works in Ilkley. She trained as a weaver and is a graduate from Glasgow School of Art and The Scottish College of Textiles. She produced hand woven silk scarves and shawls for many years. After having her three children she started to produce smaller more intricate freehand embroidery pieces.

Her embroideries are of a domestic, homely, naive quality. She draws inspiration from her home environment, garden and her love of flowers. More recently villages and their surrounding countryside in her native Scotland have been her subject matter. Also animals and people are increasingly becoming part of her textile embroidery world. Colour plays a huge part in Aneeta’s embroideries. Her colour palette is influenced by her Indian heritage and her belief that colour makes people happier.

‘Colourful, happy, whimsical, little embroideries’ are how Aneeta describes her work.
