Colour and detail inspire me.

I create paper cuts that tell a story. Each one thoroughly researched from observations of many different sources. I challenge myself to create tiny detailed images some only millimetres high. These build to become much bigger compositions such as the 1 metre high Tour de France Stage 1 map 2014. My work is always evolving adding new techniques and materials as I progress. I work in paper and more recently in stainless steel and metal leaf. I am now combining paint and paper to add depth to my work. In 2015 I became the first Official Artist for the Tour de Yorkshire creating bespoke artwork for Welcome to Yorkshire. Other prestigious commissions include the Yorkshire Air Ambulance 2016 and Ashville College 2015.

My water based paintings are created mainly in the Yorkshire landscape. I love taking my work outside in the elements and use found objects to paint with adding to the story of each picture be it a pebble at the lakeside, a seagulls feather on the beach. I love the sense of immediacy these paints bring capturing a moment in time as I interpret the scene onto paper or canvas with texture.
