Carolyn Hird-Rogers

I have developed a process of drawing on screen with a colour palette limited by my photographs. By drawing I extract the structure and form of the image, adding texture and a three- dimensional quality. I am lucky to be living on the edge of the Dales and am inspired by the plants, animals and architectural history of my surroundings, a short stretch of ancient lane running alongside the Leeds-Liverpool canal, an ancient woodland and ruined abbey.

These drawings become limited edition greeting cards, and framed prints, detailed yet fragile images emerging from the textured boards and papers, some combined with additional watercolour, pencil drawing and collage.

My hand stitched artist books – using limited edition print covers, folded, stitched pages and pockets of watercolour paper, are completed memory books capturing the essence of landscape using collage, mixed media, print and found objects.

I also make blank artist books for you to create your own memories.
