Daniel Hogan

I work out of a local pottery studio and make functional stoneware pottery. I make my pots on an electric potters wheel and mix my glazes by hand. I have only been potting for just over three years and am very much at the beginning of a long learning curve. I am currently building a gas reduction kiln which I should be ready to fire in by the Summer. I am extremely passionate about pottery and like the idea of making “beautiful pots for everyday use”. There is something very special eating and drinking from vessels that have been made by hand.

I find pottery a very meditative process which helps me escape the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

I am influenced by traditional English, Japanese and Korean pottery. I have a huge admiration and respect for some of our present day potters such as Phil Rogers, Lisa Hammond and Jacob Bodilly. Some of my favorite pots are buy Anne Mette Hjortshoj from Bonholme Island in Denmark.
