When I first came to research art in Ilkley over the years, I had no idea my investigations would throw up quite so much interesting information! Having grown up here and spent a large proportion of my adult life here, it comes as a surprise to learn that Ilkley is really very interesting artistically and over the years has played host to an impressive number of well – known and highly regarded artists and architects. Hidden in our midst are some real gems of national significance. Take a look at our online guide to some of Ilkley’s most fascinating artistic sites – You may be surprised at what you find!
The first stop on our tour is Sacred Heart Church on Stockeld Road, then we will visit the International Wool Secretariat on Valley Drive, Ben Rhydding before calling in to St Margarets Parish Church on Queens Road. We finish our grand tour at the King’s Hall, opposite Ilkley train station.
