Rachel is an inter-disciplinary artist working across the mediums of printmaking, photographic processes and sound recording. Her practice explores our perceptions of sound within environments and how that can be expressed in a visual context. She explores how we respond to and feel in certain environments and in particular how we actively ‘listen’.
Her work is very process led and is purposefully slowed down or sounds isolated and deconstructed in order to view the world at a more micro level.
Recently her research has expanded into our auditory culture and how we use sound within an arts practice. This work has been deepened while currently taking her MA in Creative Practice at Leeds College of Art.
Current projects involve a collaborative project with other artists, dancers and a chamber choir which will result in a perforative event in Leeds in June 2017 and a residency in Italy during May exploring mediaeval architecture and mountain landscapes.
She works from her studio in Yorkshire.
