My practice centres on how fabric is formed and the textures and patterns which naturally occur within its surface. These are the starting point for my exploration using screen-printing and stitch.

I am interested in how the combinations and interactions of materials affect the surface of the work, and how directional light provides a further dimension.

Working mainly with wool, linen and cotton I create pieces, which reflect on both the deconstruction and reconstruction of fabric. The work shows the relationships between this construction and the stitching used to either repair or enhance the existing surface.

The resultant pieces contain strands, which reflect my time spent working as an Art teacher in a multi cultural Bradford school.
