Simon Dobbs

I work in oil on canvas, often in situ. I am a studio holder at Jackson’s Yard, Leeds.

My intention is to take colour into the descriptive form by modulating loose strokes and oppositional tones, so giving a new life to the recognisable. I work with subject series interpretations including figures, animals and landscape.

In 2015 I exhibited in Seven Arts, Arts Cafe Leeds, AFA Galleria Marche, Kirkstall Art Trail and Heart Community Venue. I regularly exhibit in the North of England.

I have taught at Leeds College of Art and Swarthmore Educational Centre.

My influences are varied, amongst my favourites are Ivon Hitchens, Howard Hodgkin, John Bratby and Matthew Smith.
